OPEN STUDIO:
Creative Arts Program
for trans folks ages 13-17

About Open Studio

The world outside is loud right now. Open Studio is a place to come where your nervous system gets to breathe for a few hours each week.

Open Studio is a free 8-week creative arts program for Two-Spirit, trans, and gender diverse folks aged 13–17 in Calgary. Every session follows the same simple structure: grounding, making, and sharing. You arrive, you settle, you make something, and you bring it back to the group if you want to.

Each week uses a different medium including photography, collage, found poetry, drawing, sculpture, textile art, to build a toolkit of expressive skills you carry forward long after the program ends. There's no right answer here, and nothing needs to be finished to be valid. Process is the point.

Open Studio is grounded in gender-affirming care, creative arts therapy, and mindfulness-based practice. But what that means in the room is simpler than it sounds: you get to explore identity, belonging, and community through making things, rather than through having to explain yourself. You don't have to have words for it yet.

The program is offered at no cost to participants. Spots are limited.
